CHALLENGE
Every intervention had to preserve an occupied mid-rise structure: cutting 18-to-27-inch MEP trenches into the existing basement slab without undermining adjacent foundations, and opening the existing ground-floor T-beam deck without compromising its in-plane behavior.

APPROACH
M designed trench backfill in 3,000 psi concrete with post-installed epoxy-anchored reinforcement, perimeter trim-angle reinforcement at new deck openings, and neoprene isolation pads at steel column bases to attenuate equipment vibration into the occupied structure above.
