Pepe Monarrez, P.E. — Founder | Managing Principal

Pepe Monarrez founded M nearly two decades ago. The practice has evolved ever since, shaped by the people, projects, and organizations that have shaped him.

His career has taken him through complex projects and leadership roles principally in the United States and Mexico, working alongside exceptional engineers, architects, builders, clients, and business leaders within organizations whose reach extends around the world. He has built and led multidisciplinary teams, taught structural engineering, and learned from people with very different ways of seeing the same problem.

Those experiences shaped the M of today.

Pepe believes engineering judgment begins with understanding the problem before trying to solve it. That means listening before answering, challenging assumptions, and recognizing that the right question is often more valuable than the obvious answer.

The same thinking shapes how he leads. At M, good ideas are not expected to follow titles. Different disciplines and perspectives are expected to contribute, question, explain, and learn from one another. Technology strengthens that process, but never replaces curiosity, experience, or human judgment.

His years teaching structural engineering at the University of Houston reinforced another belief: knowing an answer and being able to explain it are different levels of mastery. Knowledge becomes more valuable when it is shared.

Nearly two decades after its founding, M continues to evolve around a simple idea: bring remarkable people together, ask better questions, make complex things clear, and take responsibility for the answer.

Pepe studied structural engineering at Purdue University and business at IPADE Business School.
